London - Pubs & Bars - Bars - Cocktail Bars
It's crying out for Qype to allow halves here - as this is a square on 3.5 out of 5 for me, but I couldn't quite bring myself to give it a 4..so it's a 3...anyway, shall I get into the review now?
The venue was once a bank, it was then a short lived cocktail bar, and oddly for a short time became a sort of squat pub/cafe - a fairly unique proposition...but also fairly short lived from the legal beagles point of view. Anyway - after that it was taken over by the fine team that run the excellent Dartmouth Arms nearby and turned into a spanish themed bar, serving expensive spanish pints, decent spanish bottled beer and serving some ok tapas, together with a good range of expensive wine.
The reason for it being expensive is it's basically opposite the tube and they are trying to keep a certain sort of bar patron going to the Boston rather than their venue - something which undermined the cocktail bar mentioned above.
Good little venue inside and most of the time it has a pretty good atmosphere going on, plus in traditional Spanish style - it is of course open late so a good bet for a Friday or Saturday night when the local boozer has closed.
It does however (like a lot of pubs/bars) have a bit of a theft problem - in that I think someone in there has had something nicked 2 out of the last 5 times I've been, which isn't so great. The other drawback as already mentioned by Barbaridad is that it does get pretty damn loud at times in there and pretty damn busy too.
