London - Restaurants - Chinese
An unexpected little delight of a restaurant. This is miles away from being the sort of chinese you are used to, but also not in the mind-crushingly expensive land of Hakkasan either.
Be prepared to take a dip into the unknown when ordering from a spicy Si Chaun style menu. My visit with a couple of friends consisted of a dip into the following- hot-and-numbing soup, fish-fragrant pork slivers, and Ggong Po chicken with peanuts amongst others. Also on the menu is fire-exploded beef tripe which certainly sounds intriguing although we'd ordered quite enough before getting there.
It is a feast of chillis here - that's the cooking style and a little care needs to be taken if you are not a fan of the very spicy, but the chilli husks are obvious and it's more about the style of cooking. The boiled fish drowning in a sea of chillis was a sight to behold and a delight to eat as well.
It was quiet when we visited but that was a Monday. The staff were very nice and happily did a doggy bag for one of the party.
Nice atmosphere, fun place and a great dining experience for about 20 quid ahead with drinks. Get yourself up to Euston and find yourself a little hidden gem.
