Qype: Empire Cinemas Ltd in London

London - Nightlife - Cinemas

Now I hadn't been to a cinema in Leicester Square for a while, but having not managed to go and see Cloverfield for numerous stupid reasons - I was forced into town as it was one of the few places still showing it. So off to the home of premiers I go, and oh...first impressions aren't too good as it's now got casino emblazoned on the front as well as cinema - the choice of font and general look is not a good one. Anyway, in we go and while it's better than your run of the mill Odeon, it's really nothing special - an ok seating area with a few sofas and a long bar, but it's all so devoid of personality and makes you think you're waiting for a plane not your cinema screen to be ready.

As it was late (very) in Cloverfield's run, we were in one of the small screen rooms and although they have good leg room and the chairs are pretty comfy, they are not exactly wide.

Overall ok I guess, but it's not a patch on the Ritzy in Brixton or numerous other independent (ish) cinemas like the 'on the Hills' around London.
